HOW TO GET ORGANISED
Find out who else in your community shares your concerns about accessing the internet. Making a case and lobbying for better broadband could take a lot of time and effort so you will need to get other people on board as soon as possible.
Everyone in your community needs to be informed and involved, the more active supporters the better. Don’t forget to include local businesses, schools, doctors’ surgeries and community organisations. Get your parish council on side and find out if there is any help from your district or county council.
A good way to get people on board is to arrange an open meeting or an open event. It is important to publicise an event well in advance and to arrange to have speakers there or information in a visual format which can provide information about broadband. You need to work out what you want to achieve from the meeting, perhaps to start with it would be to collect names from people who would like to see better broadband from your area.
A good way of gauging interest is to ask the parish council for their views and use the parish magazine to ask people to contact you if they would be interested in improved broadband for their home or business.
If you find that there is support for improving broadband in your community you will need to make a case.
