HELPING YOUR COMMUNITY TO GET BROADBAND

Our Community Broadband Guide aims to help communities wishing to establish or improve their broadband service. It will help you to find the advice that you need and will tell you who can help you to access improved broadband.

Finding your way around this guide

The buttons in the panel on the left show the four sections of the guide.  There is also a jargon buster to explain technical terms and a page of useful links.

The current Government has committed that every household across all areas of the United Kingdom will receive a minimum broadband speed of 2Mbps by 2015. As well as the Government’s commitment to improving broadband private sector investment has been announced that will improve broadband connectivity in different areas. You may be lucky and find that investment is already being made to bring super-fast broadband to you.

Some communities have decided that rather than waiting for this to happen they need a good broadband service now. Several communities are developing broadband solutions for themselves and this may be an option for your community if there are no other plans for improving your broadband in the near future.

The aim of this Community Broadband guide is to help you to make the right decisions regarding Broadband provision and to decide whether some action is needed to bring improved broadband to your area.

If you are already involved in community broadband then we would love to hear from you so that others can learn from your experience.  Contact us at admin@ruraldevon.org
